Fetal samples for cytogenetical or molecular genetical testing

Fill in an ‘Application form - Prenatal Genetic Test ’.

Clearly indicate on the samples: ‘Foetus of (name parent(s))’ or ‘Child of (name parent(s))’.

If tests were requested for the parents as well, additional forms ‘Application form – Postnatal Genetic Test‘ should be filled in.

Chorionic villi

• Notify the lab by calling the CMGG secretariat: +32 9 332 2477.
• 10 – 20 mg or more wet weight of chorionic villi (required quantity depends on the test).
• Keep the sample in a sterile container with culture medium or in a sterile isotonic solution at room temperature, away from direct sunlight andfreezing temperatures,by usingisolatedenvelopesin winter.
• Deliver the chorionic villi as soon as possible – within 24 hours after the sample was taken - to the CMGG before 5 pm (on Fridays before 2 pm). In case of transport problems, please inform the lab (+32 9 332 2477) thereof in time so the sample can nevertheless be received.

Amniotic fluid

• Notify the lab by calling the CMGG secretariat: +32 9 332 2477.
• Min. 15 ml of amniotic fluid in a sterile container.
• Sample taken from week 15 of pregnancy.
• Keep the sample at room temperature, away from direct sunlight andfreezing temperatures,by usingisolatedenvelopesin winter.
• Deliver the amniotic fluid as soon as possible –within 24 hours after the sample was taken - to the CMGG before 5 pm (on Fridays before 2 pm). In case of transport problems, please inform the lab (+32 9 332 2477) thereof in time so the sample can nevertheless be received.
